Making a sketch of something you see in every day life not only captures your inspiration for a new project, but can also challenge you to try a design outside your comfort level!! These following sketches don’t have to be limited to just cards, you can use then for tags, paintings, and layouts!
For the Fall sketch, I chose simple clean lines. A traditional idea made fun with the materials I had on hand. – Mostly from my scrap paper stash. I distressed some edges with a sand paper block, tore other pieces off with my fingers and used a standard brown ink pad to make the edges look worn and weathered. I cut the letters “Fall” from a patterned sheet of paper and attached them with shiny gold brads. I also used a strip of fabric paper and scrunched it near the bottom, securing it with a stapler to give it a ribbon look.
The Best Witches sketch was inspired by of all things a hand bag. It was one of those things that I saw while out and about. I sketched it and here it is today as a delightful card!
I created the background by randomly stamping Halloween images on brown Kraft paper. I like to overlap from time to time as it gives the design a nice artsy feel.
I had some decorative velum which I placed over yellow card stock. Then I used some faded clip art of some Witches having Tea, to tell the story . Some themed stickers and rub ons completes the card!
The next idea can be a card or a trick or treat sack to hold hot popcorn or other fun party treats. I used a brown paper lunch sack and cut it off half way with pinking shears. Next I distressed the edges with standard black ink. I crinkled the edges with my fingers to create a web effect when the ink was applied. I have a scrapbook sheet filled with these grinning skulls and carefully cut them out for decoration before adding them to the sack. Lastly a rub on was used for the words, “Trick or Treat”.
Well that’s all for Halloween idea’s. A whole months worth for the year! I hope I have inspired you to try some of these idea’s with your own creativity.
If you have idea’s you’d like to see me talk about or create from, feel free to send me a e-mail. Questions and comments always welcome!
Happy Halloween!

I like the background paper you created using stamping. I get afraid to overlap when stamping, but you have inspired me to step out of my comfort zone.
