“Our” Halloween Party Menu Idea’s

Every year for Halloween, we have some sort of party. This year,  we are entertaining quite a few Family, friends and children! With that come devilish spooky food! I like to label each one with scary names that might make people shiver. :) To get started on the food names, all I needed was :

  1. Halloween themed paper
  2. Flat toothpicks
  3. A tombstone template, made from a piece of cardboard.
  4. Stapler and tacky glue (you never know what you’ll use)
  5. Stamped images to cut out
  6. A black pen
  7. Punched scrap paper if desired.

Trace your template on the colored card stock.  Use some of the shapes from the the patterned paper or stamped images as templates too.  Arrange everything so you are ready for the adhering.

Apply lots of glue, especially around the tooth pick part. Press down with adjoining shapes or paper cut outs. Press firmly and set to dry before decorating.

Decorate the picks as desired and write in your wicked dishes.

This year the menu will be a little bit different, as I’m trying some new things!

“Maggots” = White rice.

“Spider Eggs” = White beans

“Moldy Cheese” = A cheese ball rolled in dried herbs

“Mummy Toes= Normally I would roll hot dogs in croissant dough, cut a bit out of each end before baking, then cut in 1/2 and fill cut out bit with ketchup…but this year I’m just cooking them on a indoor grill with the cut out bit, then halve them in buns and add the ketchup.

“Spider Web” Cupcakes = You might remember this recipe from a post in May. I’m going to be making the same delicious ones! After the baking and adding the white frosting, I’ll be using a store bought black icing to draw 3 circles on each cupcake like a target. Then with a toothpick, starting from the center draw the pick through the icing and frosting to the outside. Continue till I get a web. Finish off with a plastic spider ring in the center and done!

I’m also serving up homemade Swedish meatballs with sauce and ligonberry jam, chips/dip with awful names like swamp sludge or other yucky things, brittle bones- pretzel sticks, Witch hat cookies, and plenty more delightful treats!

Although I’m a stickler on recycling, for the parties sake and my after party clean up, I’ll have fun paper plates, juice pouches for the kids (we had lots of sticky spills last time!) and a nice jug of home made Sangria for the adults!

So what’ on the menu for your Halloween party?

  1. I like the idea of using toothpicks and little tombstone signs for labeling the dishes.
