Using Quotes on a Lay Out

From time to time I like to use favorite quotes on a lay out to help convey what I’m really thinking.  A quote can be the title, the page description or even the page itself!  As I posted here, you can find quotes most anywhere to fuel your creative needs! Quotes also come in handy for one photo lay outs like this one. Here I just threw together a simple lay out because I did not want to take away from the beauty of this quote.  For this  close up profile shot of Dyllan, I really had no idea to where I took this photo. No scenery to give me a theme. No idea’s for background. So I went with it.

I love every single one of these quotes. Sometimes reading them inspires me to create something new. Photo or no photo.  One of my favorites that  people now days just don’t  get is ” If you want to be happy, be.”

People find it easier to be unhappy than to be happy. I think if everyone read a few inspirational quotes with their morning coffee, cereal or in checking their e-mails…they might get a renewed sense of life. Don’t you think?

For this next layout, I tried something new. I took a chip board frame and placed it on a selected piece of patterned paper. I used a pen to trace not on the outside but on the inside. When I used my precision scissors to cut the shape out, I cut past the line into the bigger piece of paper, for a clean look so the frame would fall plush onto the layout.

I set the cut out piece aside for later scrap use and placed the rest of the paper onto a matching solid color. Using a good adhesive, I glued everything down, added my photo in the center and then glued down the chip board frame.

The quote, “Every step of the journey, is the journey”…seemed to fit this photo so well of Dyllan taking a walk with my Dad down by the boats in the San Diego harbor. (It was just the innocence of the photo that spoke to me. )

When you are looking for quotes to go with a page or cards…try looking in some of your favorite novels as well. Or maybe listen to music and pay attention to the lyrics. Sometimes the quotes that really stick with me are just every day quips I over hear family and friends say!

  1. I think I forgot that I don’t have to use a pre-printed quote, I can just write it. Thanks for the reminder.
