Have you ever just wanted to throw a bunch of photo’s together and not have to worry about perfection? Then try to create a layout Freestyle! Not only does it add a sense of FUN to your page but it’s easy to do! Here I used a “boy” paper kit and included some of it’s elements to make this page. A lot of “us scrappers” get caught up in the normal routine of layouts having to be so form perfect when really, they don’t have to be that way!
To start. I freehand cut a wide strip of the background paper and then snipped some triangles out of it. This was the start to break up my boring card stock.
I then incorporated some of the other decorative paper on one side of the layout while I overlapped and adjusted some photos so they were Topsy Turvy in a playful way. I cropped the bottom two photos thin, eliminating all but the subject.
For some of the profile shots, I actually cut them out because their back grounds were distracting to the theme of the page. This also allowed me to fit all the photo’s on one page with out having to make a two page spread.
For the final result I added fun sayings, arrows, stars and cut out designs from the patterned paper. It’s not your everyday “polished” page, but it sure is fun to look at and was a breeze to create!
The main trick in creating a “freestyle” page is to not over think the process. Just do it! It’s not about agonizing over every little detail. It’s about thinking out side of the box and relaxing. I hope I’ve inspired you to try a little freestyle!
